Craft Sunday - Umbrella Collage

Here's my latest craft sunday finally! The inspiration came from a bird collage I found on pinterest, then I tweaked it and made it my own. I decided to do an umbrella because I thought it would be cute and unique!

This project was fun and easy! All you need is canvas, magazines, a pair of scissors, mod podge, and paint. I also added a ribbon to mine.
Here's how I did it:

I found my canvas in the craft section at walmart. It's 11" X 14"

Now it's time to go to town with the scissors and a stack of old magazines. I cut out any color, pattern or picture I liked in different shapes and sizes.

Being the control freak I am, I had to put my favorite pieces where I knew they would show. Most of the collage gets painted over.

The step I failed to take a photo of is outlining the stencil of your object onto the finished collage. You can google stencils for different objects, animals, etc. I found one for an umbrella and enlarged it until it was the right size. After you trace the stencil, paint around the rest of the collage. I used two coats.

This is what the finished product looked like:

I decided to add ribbon to my finished collage so I could hang it on my wall. I love the way it turned out!

Emerald Craze

Lately I've been having a huge obsession with everything emerald green. I now have a sweater, a couple skirts and a belt to show for it. When I saw this dress it was love at first sight! It showed up on ModCloth's be the buyer program and I knew I HAD to have it! I voted for it and then waited FOREVER for an email that they got it in. Then I waited a little longer and let my awesome mom give it to me for Christmas!

This is probably my third time wearing this dress since Christmas because I love it so much! I also liked the way it pairs with the mustard color of this cardigan. They're both such bold colors but they work so well together.

Oh, by the way! I got new glasses! I usually wear contacts (I'm blind as a bat) but glasses are always nice when you're lying in bed or on lazy days. Mine have been broken for quite a while so it was definitely time to get new ones! I haven't decided how much I like them yet... I think I always look a bit dorky in glasses.
Well, I'm getting tired and distracted by the TV so that's it for now! I have an awesome craft Sunday to share later this week!

Rainy Day

Hey there! I know I said I'd be better about this whole blogging more often thing....and then I lost the battery charger to my good camera and the USB cord to my back up camera. Haha. Just my luck..but hey! I found the charger so we're back on track!

I've been super busy with my new job. I have training all day every day! I never thought there would be so much to learn about banking!! I managed to get the weekend off from both jobs so we snapped these photos at this pretty park Saturday afternoon.

It was a rainy, overcast day. One of my favorite kinds of weather! Everything was so beautiful. I could have kept taking photos forever except me being the clumsy girl I am, slipped off a wet log and landed not so gracefully, dirtying my knees. We decided after that it was time to go get some nice warm soup at Zupa's!
