Merry and Bright

Hello again! It's been so so horribly long! The holidays have sent me into a frenzy and I feel like I haven't gotten anything done! But, don't worry my poor neglected blog is on my list of new years resolutions so it'll only get better from here on out!

These photos were taken sometime before Christmas. I apologize for the quality. My cameras charger has gone missing so these were taken with a different camera. It's too bad because I loved this outfit!

Anyway, I can't wait to jump back into regular outfit shots! My wardrobe has expanded since Christmas and I have so many things I can't wait to share with you! Today has been nice, I had the day off and I've been organizing my wardrobe. I also got a call back from the bank I applied at and guess who has a new job?!! I'm so excited!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

December Chill

Oh my goodness, it's been COLD lately! It makes me really want to move somewhere warm! Over the weekend we went to a live nativity and picked out a Christmas tree. Both activities were outdoors and I found myself freezing despite my coat, gloves and head wrap. It's just way. too. cold.

I'm wearing my red skirt again! It's become an instant favorite. I just love the texture and length. This time I paired it with a sweater and tights to try and keep warm.

So, here's my little tree. We always have to find a tiny one to fit in our little apartment. We have yet to decorate it. Hopefully in the next couple days...I feel like December is already going by so fast!!

A Trip to Granny's

I'm back! Hopefully for good now. I feel like my posting has been so sporadic lately! I've been trying to get back into my regular routine since Black Friday weekend screwed me all up.
I'm working on some fun DIY projects right now I'm excited to post about!

It's about time I get these pics up! These were taken a couple weeks ago at a visit to my Granny's house. She's 100 years old now and still lives on her own! My sister took most of the pics on her camera so it's taken me a while to get them all together.

How many pics are too many?? Because I've got quite a few to show you! Bare with me..

Ethan even joined in the fun this time! I love getting him to jump in pics with me. I feel like I'm more relaxed and natural when he's right there with me.

?

This one is one of my favorites:
It's such an interesting, artistic shot.

How was everyone's weekend? Other than working like crazy I got a lot of Christmas shopping done! I'm so excited to wrap everything, I LOVE wrapping presents and I have so many ideas!

First Snow

Hi everyone! It's been forever it seems since my last post. I've just been crazy busy!! This is the busiest time of year for retail as it gets closer to the holidays and the most dreaded day of the year; Black Friday. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to join the chaos and shop my heart out, but working on Black Friday is torture. Especially with two jobs. I'll be working a total of sixteen hours and pulling an all-nighter, not something to look forward to.
Anyway, on a lighter note, I had a fun weekend between all the work. Remember my excitement about H&M opening? Well, this dress is one of the things I bought at the opening and this past Saturday I got a chance to wear it!

Saturday also happened to be the morning after the first snowfall of the year. It didn't snow much, but enough to stick on the ground. It hasn't snowed since either. Crossing my fingers. It did make a good background for pics though.

I had my sister snap these Saturday morning in my parents' backyard. (note the fence in the background-haha). We were both wearing our oxfords so she took this adorable pic of both our feet.

After taking pics we headed to the mall. Nordstrom was having a "Style Your Sole" event with Tom's where you can have your plain canvas Tom's painted by local artists after purchasing them for no additional charge! The whole idea was so fun to me! I bought a pair of olive green Tom's and had them custom painted. I wasn't sure what I wanted at first but eventually decided on feathers. I think they turned out super good!

I now own two pairs of Tom's. They're the most comfortable shoes in the world!
Well, I'm headed to work now. We're setting up for the big Black Friday sale tonight. Wish me luck. Are any of you working or shopping on Black Friday?

Last Days of Fall

It's been forever since my last post! I've been so so busy. I feel like everything is non-stop one thing after another lately. Today I talked my sister into taking a few pics since I didn't have to be to work until a little later in the day. It's rare I get a chance to take pics before the sun goes down anymore!

I have so much new stuff I need to post! Today I wore a few of them together. I love this skirt, it's probably one of the only red items in my closet. I'm usually not big on the color, but this skirt is a warmer shade and I love the texture. The blazer is new too. My favorite part is the elbow patches of course! That's the main reason I bought it. And..these shoes finally came in the mail yesterday!! As soon as I saw them I had to have them but I waited and ordered online when they went on sale. I'm obsessed with them!

I love the trees in these photos. It makes me miss fall already. I feel like winter is coming so fast! Christmas too! I haven't done any shopping yet, I haven't even made lists! I'm not quite ready for the season, I can't believe November is already halfway over! Crazy!

Anyway, I have more fun pics I'm excited to post later this week! We took a trip to visit my great-grandma this past weekend and had a little shoot. Ethan's even in some of them!

Codes and Keys

I've been listening to Death Cab For Cutie's latest album non-stop for the last couple days so I decided to title this post after it. DCFC is one of my top 5 favorite bands but this album was very different from the usual stuff. He usually sings about heartache and breakups so the fact that this album came out during the time Ben Gibbard was in a relationship and later married to Zooey Deschanel explains what sets it apart. The more I listen to it the more I like it. Listen to this.
(p.s. Did you hear Ben and Zooey just got a divorce after being married for 2 years? So sad. I thought they were perfect for each other. I love both of them.)

Anyway, I didn't actually wear this today, it's actually from a few weeks ago. It's hard to find the sunlight to take pics lately, especially when Ethan and I both work during the day and by the time he comes home it's dark now. Hopefully I can figure something out! Anyone have suggestions? What do you other fashion bloggers do during the winter when you work days?

These heels are probably my favorites. They're actually my wedding shoes! I wanted something completely girly but also colorful and different. I don't wear them that often because I'm afraid of ruining them! The first pic doesn't do the cardigan justice so I added a detailed shot. I love how delicate and feminine it is. It was one of my first purchases from ModCloth! I love these pants too! They're called cummerbund pants I believe. I looked all over for the perfect pair because I knew they would be a fall staple for me! These ones are a lot more flattering than some styles and SO comfortable.

One more thing! H&M is finally coming to Utah! I'm so excited! Last week I walked by at the mall and peeked in at them setting it all up. It opens Friday! Ethan and I are already planning on being there. This is big news because online shopping isn't available in the U.S. and the closest one before now wasn't until Vegas. Yay!!

Craft Sunday! -DIY Jewelry Holder!!

Yes, I know it's no longer Sunday, but check out my craft Sunday project! I made this pretty jewelry holder based off a pic on pinterest with some scrap wood, paint, four cabinet knobs and a little fabric. It cost me $11 altogether for the knobs and fabric (I already had the wood and paint).

I pretty much just looked at the pic for inspiration and made it my own, but here's a breakdown of the steps I took:

1- First I cut the wood down to the size I wanted.

2- Next I marked where I wanted the knobs to go and had Ethan help me drill holes.

3- Paint! I painted my board with one coat of off-white paint.

4- After the paint dried I took some brown craft paint and gave it an antique look.

5- Before attaching the knobs I took some of my fabric and wrapped it around the plain white knob to give it some color, securing it with a small elastic (I'm sure there's a better way to do it but elastic worked for me!)

6- Last, I arranged my knobs in the order I wanted and screwed them into my board. And, done!!

I love my gorgeous new jewelry holder! It was so easy to make and I had so much fun with it! They would make awesome gifts. I love how chic it makes my jewelry look and now I don't have to hang my necklaces on my vanity drawers and have them fall on the ground all the time!

"The Time Has Come for Colds and Overcoats"

I was having a hard time coming up with a name for this post and then I thought of this song by Brand New. Perfect. It just keeps getting colder lately, I kinda hate it. I miss my Indian Summer when it was still nice and warm but the leaves were just starting to change and everything was beautiful. Winter, please don't come yet!

I was feeling lazy today and didn't want to get all dressed up before work, where I'm forced to wear a boring white button-down shirt. So, I paired my gorgeous new tulle coat with some jeans and flats. Simple and warm.

I didn't realize until I went through the pics tonight, but I totally blend in with the wall on the side of my apartment. Oops.

Today Ethan and I loaded two huge garbage bags of clothes into the trunk of my car and headed back over to Trendy Exchange. They took quite a bit of it and I was impressed with how much we made for it! I might just be obsessed with that place. Ethan also found a pair of H&M jeans for $10!
We finished off the day with some Ben&Jerrys pumpkin pie cheesecake ice cream. So, so good. Tomorrow's craft Sunday! I can't wait to share what I'm making!

Floral and Sunsets

?
Today I discovered something amazing! I heard about a new buy and sell shop called trendy exchange nearby so I went to check it out after work and I think its now my favorite thing ever! It was so cute inside and they had some great stuff! I ended up thrifting this floral dress for $9 and the blazer for $12 !! What a day!

I also found Ethan a t-shirt while I was there. He was excited to wear it to dinner tonight! And of course I couldn't wait to wear my finds! They actually worked cute together too!

You can't really tell in these pics we took in a hurry just before the sun went down but the dress has a ruffly puff sleeve at the shoulder. I love the style and pattern, I'm a sucker for floral (the colors look better in person too)

I've been looking for the perfect blazer for a while now. I actually just ordered one online before finding this one, but one can't have too many blazers, right? I absolutely love this one! Worth the wait, and such an awesome deal. I'm sure I'll be back to trendy exchange soon to sell some of my old stuff!

It was nice going out to dinner tonight and just talking, I love doing almost anything with Ethan, he always makes it fun! I enjoyed having a few nights off this week! It seems rare lately. Tomorrow I work all night and have to say goodbye to my manager and good friend :( It's her last day and I hate to see her go, I just love her! I feel like there's so much change happening lately! I need some calm. I got a great deal on an hour massage from groupon that I need to use asap! Haha.

P.S. Do you like my closed eyes in the last pic? Never fails.
